Job Description:
Site Construction Managers for our Wind Energy Development program in Iowa. We are a mid-cap electric and gas utility with an excellent reputation, a track record of success and a solid foundation for aggressive, intelligent short and long-term growth plans. We have announced plans to construct over 900 MW of additional electric generating capacity from both traditional and renewable sources in the upper Midwest as well as significant environmental improvements to existing facilities in the near future. We will be focusing a significant amount of resources on developing wind farms throughout our service territory. Supervision Given: Supervises the work of construction and technical staff, consultants and contractors involved in construction of wind energy generation facilities and associated high voltage power systems projects. Position Summary/Accountabilities: Responsible to provide leadership for wind farm construction, including access road construction, concrete turbine foundation construction, turbine erection, interior tower wiring, high voltage line construction, underground electric system construction, substation construction, and O&M building construction. Provides technical and onsite management for project implementation, including, construction, startup testing, and environmental compliance. Responsible for maintaining the schedule, budget and scope of work within contracted limits. Responsible for hiring, training and developing construction superintendents and staff to execute Company’s rate based wind farm construction initiative; review turbine foundation and construction specifications, participation in wind turbine siting; managing cost and schedule; and assisting with coordination of equipment start-up and performance testing. Responsible for maintaining good landowner-Company relationships during the period of construction and in coordination with other members of the Wind Energy Development team. Manages and provides Reports project status to management on a daily and weekly basis to Construction Manager. Job Functions Safety: Leads and implements safety rules, procedures and operating practices in the construction site. Ensures the enforcement and practice of all safety policies and procedures by all construction personnel. Encourages safe work behaviors, communicates safety policies on a regular basis and promptly corrects conditions and unsafe work behaviors which may lead to accidents. Assists the safety department with investigating accidents and safety incidents. Responsible for administering and monitoring safety programs and performing safety assessments. Acts as the ultimate decision-maker during life-threatening emergency situations involving people, facilities and property. Qualifications Minimum of six(6) years professional experience in related work (Wind facility construction experience preferred);

Job Requirements:
technical skills: Engineering degree in civil or electrical and/or equivalent experience in managing construction projects in the $50M to $300M range. Strong project management skills Demonstrated leadership skills Demonstrated computer skills and working knowledge in Microsoft office softwares Significant construction experience with equipment, services, contracts, specification/procurement and/or operations. Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills Demonstrated thorough knowledge of safety rules and applicable electrical codes and DOT regulations and also OSHA. Demonstrated ability to read and understand utility maps, plans and profiles and drawings Demonstrated ability to work successfully in team situations requiring ability to develop and implement best practices initiatives across departments. Demonstrated knowledge of union contracts Working knowledge of the budget process and how to interpret and understand financial reports and financial evaluations. Salary of 120-130k base + bonus and full relocation package
