Job Description:
There is an immediate opening for a Junior Information Technology (IT) Desktop Support Analyst in the Edmonton office. Working closely with the Helpdesk, the IT Desktop Support Analyst will provide IT assistance to employees of the local office. Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Performing on-site analysis, diagnosis and resolution of desktop/Server problems for end-users and recommend and implement corrective solutions • Responding promptly and efficiently to escalated Helpdesk requests • Providing general consultation to both the users community and technical staff . Liaising with third-party support and equipment vendors as required • Installing, configuring, upgrading, testing, maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting end-user workstations/Servers and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels • Monitor, manage and respond to tape backup system alerts, maintain approved tape rotation; perform file recoveries as required • Provide Helpdesk meeting coverage as part of a group rotation • Help to maintain laptop pool (reformatting and updates) • Developing and maintaining an inventory of all desktops, laptops and all other IT related components and equipment • Accurately documenting instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation and removal • Assisting Senior GAL IT Support with projects to otherwise improve/maintain IT services.

Job Requirements:
• A College Diploma or University Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent • 2-5 years desktop support experience is preferred • Up-to-date technical knowledge as well as sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products • Strong client service orientation • Commitment to team work and willingness to follow/maintain corporate standards • Analytical and problem solving abilities with keen attention to detail • Trustworthiness with confidential data • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience • Exceptional communication, organizational and time management skills • Ability to work both unsupervised or as part of a team • After hours availability as required • Valid driver’s license.
