Our Client is a fast-growing, Calgary-based junior oil and gas company with operations in Canada and the United States. As a result of recent growth, opportunities are available for qualified individuals who wish to work in this challenging and dynamic environment. Senior Analyst, Tax Reporting to the Controller, Financial Accounting, the primary focus of this role is to lead direction of the tax functions. This includes tax planning, consulting, acquisitions, research and compliance in an effort to minimize the tax burden of the company. Responsibilities: • Ensures tax compliance activities to meet all return filing and tax payment due dates as mandated by the government entities; • Manages all tax examinations by external auditors and resolves tax issues in the most cost effective manner. Liaises with accountants, auditors, tax authorities, and outside advisors; • Assist with merger and acquisition activities from a tax perspective including tax and financing structures, tax due diligence, tax inputs on valuation models and purchase and sale agreements; • Assists in developing and implementing appropriate tax strategies and planning initiatives to deliver tax savings; • Manages tax expense provisions for financial reporting purposes; • Assists in reviewing transfer-pricing activities and developing supportable methodologies and documentation on cross-border transactions; • Keep current and maintain updated knowledge of Canadian and U.S. tax rules, regulations, standards, and related matters of interest to the company. Advises management of any major impacts and obtains support and cooperation of tax related issues; • Be involved with industry groups to keep abreast of tax developments and concerns; and • Maintain effective working relationships with other departments and business units.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications: • A Professional Accounting Designation (CA., CPA, CGA, or CMA) is required; • Likely a minimum of four years of tax planning, reporting, compliance, consulting and preferably both Canadian and U. S. experience; • Completion of CICA In-Depth Tax course; • Results-oriented and able to work in a dynamic environment; • Sound business acumen and financial knowledge and judgment; • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with executives, all levels of management, peers, external auditors, consultants, regulators, and to participate in operational teams to develop strategies; and • Excellent written and oral communications skills; Please reply to: Kim Hickson kim@hicksonresources.com (403) 668-1213
