Job Description:
We are currently seeking a full time Regional Accounting Leader to provide financial management leadership within our Canadian financial/accounting team. Our Prairie and North Region currently consists of main offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Yellowknife and Winnipeg. The position will be based in our Calgary Office and will report directly to our Region Manager in Winnipeg and National Leader of Finance and Accounting in Mississauga.
Responsibilities:
• Support our region’s Office Managers in overseeing their office’s accounting functions
• Support Office Managers and local Accounting staff so that the appropriate resources are in place to assist Project Managers in monitoring all financial aspects of their projects
• Provide technical leadership to our region accounting team consisting of staff in all of the main office locations
• Actively monitor and manage the region’s Accounts Receivable and Work in Process.
• Ensure project set-up, billing, and other accounting functions performed at the office level are performed timely, accurately and systematically in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Implement procedural and systematic changes as required to the region’s accounting policies and procedures
• Provide training on various accounting–related topics for our accounting staff and Project Managers
• Perform other special projects and financial analyses as requested by the Region Manager, Office Managers and the National Leader of Finance and Accounting.
Job Requirements:
• Accounting designation
• Post-Secondary education in Commerce, Business Administration, or Accounting
• Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting management position
• Professional service firm experience would be an asset:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good leadership qualities
• Ability to motivate and influence change
• Extensive knowledge of MS Office suite with emphasis on MS Excel
• Accounting software systems experience
• Occasional travel will be required
