Job Description:
As an Occupational Hygienist, the candidate will work in our Environmental Health and Safety Group which consists of occupational hygienists, safety professionals, professional engineers, hazardous materials managers and technicians. The position involves working on and managing various type of projects including asbestos, lead and mould assessments, abatement and remediation supervision and management, occupational hygiene, hazardous materials management, indoor air quality, hazard assessments and safety program development. Specific tasks will include:
Responsibilities:
designing and conducting occupational hygiene related audits and site assessments;
developing work plans; interpreting data;
preparing reports;
conducting presentations to clients;
working with Senior Hygienists and Group Management and providing guidance and supervision to junior and technical staff; and,
working with Golder’s clients to produce practical recommendations and developing long-term occupational hygiene services and client relationships.
Job Requirements:
The successful candidate is, or is eligible to become certified with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) and/or the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH), and has a minimum of five years experience as an occupational health and safety professional. Knowledgeable professionals with the ability to lead a team of skilled technologists, communicate clearly with clients, and execute and deliver the highest quality service should apply.
• Minimum of five years experience in managing, budgeting small and large scale industrial based projects;
• Strong knowledge of occupational hygiene- and asbestos-related issues;
• Flexibility to adjust to various regulatory environments and associated technical requirements;
• Undergraduate or Graduate degree in occupational hygiene, safety, biological sciences, civil engineering, or environmental field;
• Possess a reliable vehicle, with appropriate registration and insurance in the province of Alberta;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; and
• Possess willingness for some limited travel in Alberta, and the Prairie provinces.

The successful candidate has a desire to broaden the range of their professional skills, is able to adapt quickly while managing a busy workload, has proven problem-solving skills, possess very good written communication skills, is enthusiastic and versatile, is willing to take on responsibility, and has an ability to work in a team environment.
